A preview! While I was in London for my last overseas business trip, I had the privilege to photograph the most beautiful Eau and her fiance Mark. Mark, you are one lucky guy. =) Thanks so much for letting me share a wonderful day with the two of you walking around London. Looking so forward to the weddings already!!

June 26th, 2011after winter comes spring…
April 14th, 2011it’s been a really long winter. many people often ask me, when they learn that i grew up in california, why i would ever choose to live in a place with such harsh, cold weather. i have to admit that as depressing as northeastern winters may be, it is the long months of waiting through november to march that makes me appreciate the spring so much more. it makes me happy to no end when i leave work and the sun is still shining. i don’t even mind that during spring, the birds start chirping next to my window at 7 in the morning, or that the blooming flowers are suffocating me with their pollen. opening day in april is one of my favorite days of the year, a sign that summer softball is just around the corner. i love it when it is warm enough i can wear flip flops and drive with my windows rolled down blasting trashy pop music like a true california girl.
i guess life is often like that, too. sometimes, waiting for the next “season” of your life takes much longer than you would like. as i watch my friends and peers around me transition to various life stages, whether it be a career change, a new relationship, starting a family, i often wonder what i’m supposed to be learning through this particular season of my life and when i’ll be “ready” to move on to something else. the process is painful at times, but like bostonian winter, is extremely worth it if you’re able to wait it out.
so here’s a rather long photo post, about my most recent long winter, and the spring that i’m looking forward to just around the corner (those of you who make it to the bottom will receive a hint as to where i’ll be for the next two years!)
after a historic snowfall in boston, auggie and i went on a photo shoot around boston. it was cold.

for a while now, my projects at work have been europe and asia-based, so i’ve been working odd early and late hours. here’s a picture of the frozen charles next to my office at 5am in the morning.

it was so cold that mit built an icewall.

my mother braved the cold and came to visit me in february!

happy chinese new year!
February 4th, 2011it’s been a while since i last posted. the past half year has been quite crazy – i flew some 50,000 miles around the world, made some major life decisions, and in the process, have had to learn some very difficult lessons. but through it all, i’ve learned that though the scenery around me might change, though my best laid plans may fall apart, i have an unchanging God who loves me very much, and an enduring supporting cast of loving family and friends. for that i am truly blessed, and as i look forward to the new year, i want to thank you all for always being there for me, for giving me hope. here’s for the best in the new year!

now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

lindsey + calvin
August 24th, 2010two weekends ago, i had the pleasure of hanging out with calvin and lindsey for an engagement shoot in lindsey’s hood (JP). it was so awesome because it didn’t feel like a shoot at all, but rather just spending time with a really fun couple on a lovely saturday morning. the morning started off with the fulfillment of lins’ dream of standing in the middle of a huge rotary in jamaica plain:
then we walked to nearby jamaica pond, where lindsey and calvin shared silly stories about high school proms, and we took some “awkward” photos to go with:
while adventuring through JP, we also managed to hit up a few yard sales.
my absolute favorite part of the morning though, was when we walked by the JP mansions and thought, what a nice pretend house to have. haha. here are the proud new owners of a JP mansion. welcome!!!
lindsey and calvin, it’s been such a huge blessing for me to have witnessed your love for each other grow over the past few years. it’s so natural to be around you two as you share, laugh, and genuinely enjoy each other’s presence. thank you so much for allowing me to serve you in this way!
america’s favorite pasttime
June 23rd, 2010those of you who know me best know that i have 3 very ambitious goals in life:
1) get a sushi roll named after me (how good does “mandy roll” sound?)
2) get my cat, milo, on lolzcats
3) visit every major league baseball park in the country (and i guess that one park in our neighbor up north too)
last weekend i went on my first ever baseball roadtrip with a dear friend who is leaving boston. in 3 very short days, we saw 3 games in washington dc, philly, and nyc. we planned this trip a long time ago, and got unbelievably lucky with the pitching schedule! at the nationals-white sox game we saw national phenom stephen strasburg. at the phillies-twins game we saw cole hamels, and at the subway series we saw santana vs. sabathia. even though it was blistering hot outside on all three days, it was an awesome trip filled with exciting extra inning games and good food. why spend time sightseeing things like the national monument and the liberty bell when you’ve got america’s favorite pasttime? this mini roadtrip reaffirmed all the things i love about baseball.
LOVE: all star hype + presidents
we had originally bought $10 seats thinking we could easily move up in nationals park…but we had no idea that the national treasure would make an appearance on the mound. subsequently the game was sold out and we were left to melt in our scalding terrace seats. there was so much hype that even the president was at the game! well that and his beloved white sox were in town.
LOVE: ballpark food!
so much fat…sooooo good. burgers, fries, hot dogs, sausages, cheesesteaks…i had ‘em all! as someone asked me after, “are you even a girl?”
five guys burger and fries in dc:

pat’s and geno’s cheesesteaks in philly (and yes, pat’s >>> geno’s)

LOVE: funny mascots / pregame activities
i’m really a kid who loves silly mascot races. seriously, that mascot relay race video gets me every time, haha. we got to citizen’s bank park 3 hours before the game to watch BP and other pregame fun. here’s mr. reeses to welcome us in.
in honor of father’s day, the phillies players played an one-inning game with their kids. the kids obviously dominated their fathers. the best part was when RJ ibanez got caught in a pickle running home between shane victorino and jayson werth, and slid under the throw to score! here’s placido polanco with his kids.

LOVE: fans (well, most of them)
sports cities are great because they have fans who care. and now i can legitimately say that yankees fans are so much worse than red sox fans, after seeing them heckle the crap out of mets fans.

this old man got a lot of jumbotron time for his dancing.

LOVE LOVE LOVE: beautiful ball parks
these images say it all…
